What is a prosthodontist?

Prosthodontics is the only specialty recognized by the American Dental Association that deals with reconstruction of teeth, esthetics/cosmetics, and function.

A maxillofacial prosthodontist is a dental specialist in the restoration and replacement of teeth. Prosthodontic treatment includes cosmetic dentistry; implant prostheses, dentures, partials, crowns, veneers, bridges, oral cancer reconstructions, TMD jaw-problems, etc

Extensive training and education provide prosthodontists with the skills for restoring optimum function and esthetics to your smile.

In order to be a maxillofacial prosthodontist, a graduate dental professional must complete (after dental school) 3-years of prosthodontic residency training at a university approved by the American Dental Association (ADA), plus a one-year maxillofacial prosthetic fellowship at an ADA approved fellowship program.
